'''Pepper Coins''' are scattered around various locations in the game, their locations differing depending on the difficulty setting. Collecting a Pepper Coin replenishes all shields. If one collects them all within a single difficulty level, the Secret Base will be unlocked for that difficulty level, allowing access to the Homing Blaster upgrade; collecting them all across all three difficulty levels will replace the image of Andross on the title screen with an image of Fox.
