Star Fox News
* July 15, 2011 - Nintendo Australia finally launched their own official teaser website for Star Fox 64 3D, but unfortunately they still have yet to announce the release date for the Oceania region. Nintendo of America are the only ones left to put up their own official website. Another bit of news you mostly already known, Star Fox 64 3D is now available in Japan since yesterday! If you wish to import the game, you need to have a Japanese Nintendo 3DS as they are region-locked, unfortunately. Also, although unrelated directly to Star Fox, Nintendo Co., Ltd. had launched a new color for the Nintendo 3DS alongside the game - the Flare Red edition - the third official color which was originally revealed way back in E3 2010.
* July 6, 2011 - In case you have not noticed, yesterday Nintendo Co., Ltd. unveiled a new interview in their popular "Iwata Asks" column. This time around the host, Nintendo president and CEO, Satoru Iwata, had taken some time to interview Star Fox creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Star Fox 64’s writer Mitsuhiro Takano, Nintendo EAD’s game planner Yusuke Amano, and Q-Games founder and president Dylan Cuthbert, who is also apparently Star Fox 64 3D’s game director. This interview officially confirms that Q-Games co-developed the game’s remake. In this interview, we find a lot of interesting tid-bits surrounding the development of Star Fox 64 3D, as well as other kinds of interesting information, like Cuthbert's initial days in Japan, which was sometime before he eventually worked on what became Star Fox! You can check out this and more in the interview over here. Of course, you have to know some Japanese to actually understand what these people are talking about. Like all of the "Iwata Asks" interviews, this one will eventually be translated and put up on NOA’s and NOE’s websites. However, I doubt this will happen too soon, as this interview was released just in time to market the game, since it will see its Japanese debut in less than two weeks from now! In the meantime, we will check into any available worthwhile alternatives for the English-speaking masses.

* June 28, 2011 - Have you guys been to the official European Star Fox 64 3D website yet? It currently looks identical to the former Japanese teaser website, except for all the indicts which Nintendo of Europe (NOE) usually uses, as well as a different language. In fact, depending on which country's local hub you access, the website can be available in nine different languages, which include Flemish and NOE's new official language: Russian (I am aware that NOE also entered Poland, but that branch is not quite yet as developed as the others, and the website is not available in Polish anyway). Nintendo of America (NOA) has yet to have a website of its own, and interestingly they are the ones who own the StarFox.com domain, which still currently re-directs back to the main NOA hub! (NOA is being quite troublesome lately, which is why we are seeing groups like Operation Rainfall popping up every now and then!)

* June 20, 2011 - Confirmation! Star Fox 64 3D will be released in Europe on September 9, 2011! That is two days before North America, apparently. Looks like Nintendo are now going into a big habit of publishing games in Europe slightly before North America. Unfortunately, there is no real confirmation whether the game will retain the original title, or replace it with Lylat Wars like during the Nintendo 64 days (although, at the time, they were sort of forced to, but they now have no real reason to do so), but it seems the former case is more likely.

* June 7, 2011 - Nintendo's E3 2011 press conference had come and gone, and they officially announced the successor to the Wii console - Wii U. In addition to confirming the console's touch-screen controller, the Wii U boasts amazing HD visuals Nintendo fans had longed to see. In part of Star Fox news, nothing new had been announced, contrary to our great anticipation. However, Nintendo releases brand new footage for Star Fox 64 3D, which reveals that the game uses the same lines from the original, but with new voices for every character. Nintendo also roughly states that the game is confirmed for a U.S. release around September 2011. June 8 Update: Apparently, the game is now set to be specifically released in the U.S. on September 11, 2011. Strangely enough, just in time for the 10th Memorial of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

* May 12, 2011 - Breaking News! This has been feared for a while, but now it is official. Star Fox 64 3D shall not, I repeat, shall NOT support online multiplayer features whatsoever. Like the original, the game will have a multiplayer mode all right, but unfortunately despite the Nintendo 3DS' advancement in online-capablities, you can only play this game against other players locally. The game still features Download Play, where people can play against anyone even if they do not own the game, similary to Star Fox Command. Additionally, players can take pictures of themselves for creating personal icons when pitting against other. Furthermore, the game includes two single modes: The 3DS mode, and a classic mode. In the former, you can use the gyroscope features to control the game, whilst the latter can be controlled the old-fashioned way, of course.
